Wieso kann die reiche EU sich nicht selbst ern\u00e4hren?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In der Europ\u00e4ischen Union kommt auf eine Person mehr Ackerland als im globalen Durchschnitt: rund 2500 m\u00b2. In Indien sind es 1200 m\u00b2, in China 880 m\u00b2 und in der Schweiz sogar nur rund 500 m\u00b2. Dagegen kommen wir in den USA auf 4760 m\u00b2 und in Argentinien sogar fast auf einen Hektar pro Person. Weizen, Gerste, Mais, andere Getreide und \u00d6lsaaten sind die wichtigsten Ackerfr\u00fcchte Europas. Das meiste dient als Tierfutter, immer mehr auch der Energie- und Treibstoffproduktion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vergleichen wir die Ackerfl\u00e4che, die in der EU (etwa als Soja) eingef\u00fchrt wird, mit der, die wir (etwa als Weizen) exportieren, ergibt
sich ein Au\u00dfenhandelsdefizit von etwa 21 Millionen Hektar. Wir importieren also zus\u00e4tzlich rund 500 m\u00b2 Ackerfl\u00e4che pro Person aus anderen L\u00e4ndern der Erde und konsumieren im Durchschnitt 3000 m\u00b2 pro Person. Dabei hat Europa beste B\u00f6den und Klimabedingungen und zudem optimale technische und finanzielle Voraussetzungen. Warum kann die reiche EU sich dennoch nicht selbst ern\u00e4hren? Weil wir es uns leisten k\u00f6nnen und Agrarprodukte auf dem Weltmarkt allzu billig sind? Ein gro\u00dfer Teil unserer Ackerfl\u00e4chen-Importe ist nicht f\u00fcr unsere Nahrung bestimmt.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
