Weltacker Hohenems
The Global Field in Hohenems has already reached the year 2050 in terms of size. Due to the expected population growth, the loss of arable land through erosion and environmental damage, each individual will only have 1,500 m² left in 25 years’ time, according to an FAO forecast. Here in Hohenems, educational work therefore focuses in particular on issues of global justice: There is a special area which, in addition to the topic of deforestation, deals with the issues of luxury foods and fair trade. Slavery in the global food system is also addressed.

The Global Field in Hohenems also focuses on fiber plants for clothing and the topic of water. The latter is demonstrated in detail using the example of chocolate and its water requirements.
The main sponsor of the Weltacker in Hohenems is the Collini company. Other project partners are the “Bäuerliche Schul- und Bildungszentrum für Vorarlberg” in Hohenems, “Vetterhof” in Lustenau, “Bio Vorarlberg”, “Lebenshilfe Vorarlberg”, “Naturschutzbund Vorarlberg” and “Welthaus Vorarlberg”.

Address of the Weltacker: Schweizerstraße 49, 6845 Hohenems (a 3-minute walk from Hohenems railroad station, on the Collini company premises).
The Global Field can be booked free of charge for guided tours for school classes, companies, clubs, parishes or groups. Dates can be requested via:
