Weltacker Graubünden association founded
A significant step has been taken towards a fifth Swiss Global Field. This will not only involve arable land, but also permanent grassland.

On Monday, October 20, 2025, Giulia Casale, Bernadette Arpagaus and Martin Roth founded the Weltacker Graubünden association in Chur. In exchange with and supported by various partner organisations, they are bringing the Global Field idea to Graubünden.
The planned Global Field Graubünden will not only highlight arable land, but also the importance of permanent grassland for our food system. While around 26 % of agricultural land in Switzerland is arable land, this proportion is just 2 % in Graubünden – almost 98 % consists of (alpine) meadows and pastures.
This creates another place where you can experience how diverse and regionally different our agricultural foundations are – and how closely they are linked to the global challenges and opportunities of our food system.
The detailed planning is now underway so that — if everything goes according to plan — the first school classes and groups can be welcomed to the Global Field Graubünden from 2027. Weltacker Switzerland is supporting the new association on its journey — with advice, action and great anticipation!
