Weltacker Bamberg

In 2025, the Global Field opened its doors adjacent to the areas of Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Bamberg. Here, a true-to-life representation of global agriculture is growing on 2000 m² according to the classic Global Field concept. The project in Bamberg’s Südflur is supported by BUND Naturschutz.

The areas are painted on the entrance sign to the Weltacker. Behind the wooden gate you can see some people visiting Global Field.

The Global Field in Bamberg is a place of learning for sustainable development that makes the global agricultural and food situation visible and tangible on a human scale. It is open all day and can be visited by curious families and Bamberg residents. In this way, everyone can stroll along the ten by two hundred meter field through global agriculture. At the same time, the neighboring CSA offers an insight into how we could transform agriculture.

Some people hold a long wooden trunk with a carved and painted corn plant. Two people fill the hole in the ground where the trunk stands and fasten it with hammers.

Three buffet beds are next to each other: beds framed with wood. Larger CSA beds can be seen in the background.

A special highlight of the Weltacker in Bamberg: many little hands were also involved in setting up the field. Together with children, artistic elements were installed and the seeds were sown with great joy.
